Hi, my name is Naomi Forsyth, and I am a freshman Early Childhood Education student at Pitt-Greensburg. On campus, I am a part of the honors college, Campana Consort, and various clubs such as Circle K, SPSEA where I am going to be the Secretary going into the next school year, and Habitat for Humanity where I will be the treasurer going into the next school year. I work at Curious Kaleidoscope Playschool, which is a daycare in Irwin. There I get to work with newborns to preschool aged children. I also work at Maestro Minds School of Music where I teach private piano and violin lessons. There I’ve worked with five year olds to fifteen year olds. Both experiences have solidified my passion for teaching and have grown my skills and confidence as a teacher.
Currently, I would like to become a second grade teacher after I graduate. However, I’ve enjoyed the few different grade classrooms I’ve been in and look forward to more observations in classrooms. In my free time I enjoy hanging out with friends, going to campus events, hiking, playing piano and violin, and reading. I’m excited to continue to be more involved on campus and take advantage of the experiences available.
I have always wanted to travel, but haven’t had many opportunities to do so. This trip to Birmingham is a wonderful opportunity to travel, see how healthcare and education are in England, and learn about another culture. This experience will help me in a career in education being exposed to different schools and applying it to my own education and my future classroom.
