Hi! My name is Aditya Mukherjee, and I’m from Cary, North Carolina. In high school, I was drawn to chemistry and physics because they helped explain the underlying mechanisms behind how the world works. That curiosity led me to major in bioengineering, where I could combine those interests in a meaningful way.

Since coming to campus, getting involved in organizations like the Accessible Prosthetics Initiative and BMES has deepened my interest in the field and shown me the real-world impact of bioengineering. I’ve become especially interested in biosignals and hope to pursue research focused on developing and improving devices that monitor brain activity. Besides academics, I enjoy running around Schenley Park as it has great views of the city. I also enjoy going to the rec center, playing basketball, and playing video games.

I chose the Plus3 Program in Spain because of the unique opportunities it offers, especially the chance to connect with engineering companies working in the healthcare field. I’m excited to learn more about the cutting-edge technologies being developed and to see how healthcare systems in other countries differ from those in the U.S.

On a more personal note, my mom always emphasized the importance of seeing the world and made it a priority for our family to travel every few years. That stuck with me, and I want to continue that tradition. Experiencing different cultures not only broadens my perspective but also allows me to think in new ways, an important skill to have as an engineer.
