After many hours of travelling and not so many hours of sleep, we finally made it to Greece! Today we visited the University of Nicosia in Athens and the Ellinikon Experience Center. During our visit to UNIC, the CEO of UNIC spoke about the lack of research into the food that we eat on a daily basis. This really interested me because one of the things I am interested in within chemical engineering is working in the food industry. He compared our knowledge of what goes into food to the knowledge that Victorian-era people would have had, and that there are many micro substances that are in everything we consume, leading to diseases in the long term. I found this research to be very interesting, and the idea will stick with me as I progress through my chemical engineering degree and consider jobs in the future!
