Today we had an early rise at 8:00am after a long day of travel the day before. Luckily, I wasn’t as affected by the jet lag as I thought I would be, and I managed to get great sleep! My sleep was then followed up by a wonderful introduction to Spanish breakfast. After a quick breakfast, I went up to the room to shower and change before we headed out to the school of engineering. At the school of engineering we were given a presentation on the upcoming itinerary for the trip. I am so excited for what’s to come!
After lunch at the school and one more short presentation, we set off on a walking tour of Bilbao. It was so cool walking around the city and getting to learn so much about its culture. The only negative was I could feel my jet lag catching up to me mid way through the tour. I was so exhausted. I think the coolest things we learned about the city was how impactful the soccer culture is to the city (they call the Athletico Bilbao soccer stadium “The Cathedral”!) and how a flood in 1983 caused the water to rise to the second floor of some buildings!
