Amazing Race: Netherlands

on

Today we started by having breakfast in our hotel! Something that shocked me was the portion size of the food. They had mini pancakes, small rolls of bread, and slices of meats and cheeses. Of course you could get as much as you want, but it was quite different to our big waffle machines.

After this, we had a scavenger hunt! We basically got these clues that led us to places in Amsterdam. It was a great way to explore the city while also solving riddles. To me this felt like the show Amazing Race as we had to look up directions and ask people where to go. Unfortunately, out of the two teams to finish the scavenger hunt we got second so I don’t think I’d win on the show.

We then went to the denim factory which consisted of sustainably made denim. A pair of jeans uses 3,000 to 10,000 liters of water. Trying to lower water consumption is important for biodiversity from rivers, lakes, and oceans. It is also important for preventing water shortages for communities, overall improving health. This factory that we went to makes denim out of felt rather than cotton which does not require as much water because of its efficient production. They also made sewing, drying, and designing machines that require less energy.

We ended this day with a Serenamese dinner and free time in Amsterdam for more exploring!
