We had to leave this morning for a charter bus to the Suwon fortress at 9. I got up around 7:30 and ate breakfast outside. From there we took the bus for an hour to the fortress.
At the fortress we had an archery lesson, and were given 10 arrows. I hit nothing, well I hit the ground. One of my arrows hit the target but then bounced off the target so I don’t know if I should count that or not. The right side’s target was all filled up though so they had some good shooters. From there we did a tour of the fortress and got some shots for the video. It was so pretty there. The fortress was built with very tiny doors that a lot of people had to duck but very tall steps so you really had to reach, maybe to confuse the enemy. Then we went to the palace area of the fortress where King Jeongjo threw a huge party for his mother. It was her 60th birthday which was a big milestone because most don’t live until then. A lot of the tour had exhibits showing the party or the gifts his mother received. After exploring, Dr. Yun let us go for lunch.
For lunch we split into many groups and Sophie, Emma, and I went to go get dumplings. They were really good, but we were almost late to the meeting spot. I take full credit for that. I needed to stop at the bathroom, sorry!
Next up was the Samsung innovation museum. And it was all about the past, present, and the future of the company and technology itself. At the start of the tour it went over electricity’s discovery and how humans harnessed it. Then it switched to the 1900s and went over black and white tv to colored, and the mobile cell phones. Finally and the best part was the future/current products of Samsung (by the way that name means 3 stars). They had a smart fridge and three 3D game screens. But also most importantly I learned that if I buy a samsung it doesn’t turn my texts green! It just turns the people with apple phones that I text green. That is the reason I don’t have a samsung cause I didn’t want green texts. I am shallow I know but it’s a problem. I can get a phone with a really really good camera now! After this we got on the bus and rode an hour back to the Namdedum market.
It was raining when we got back and many people left to wait it out at the hotel, but my group stayed to tough it out, and went into a department store. Bad department store luxury brands on every floor rolex, gucci, dior, everything and multiple of them too. So we left for the market. I bought a gift for my dad and a K-pop demon hunters calendar for myself. Then we found this place that sells kimchi dumplings, the BEST food ever! I ate like four and these are massive dumplings. I want to go back for them and bring them home. Then Rohit wanted sunglasses so we stopped at a store and accidentally negotiated a discount. The lady said 35,000 won and we were like that’s 20ish dollars but all she heard was the 20 so she changed it to 20,000 won. What a win. Then Sophie, Emma, and me left to go get our hair done.
The place we went to was on the 5th floor of a hotel. It was very nice and they squeezed all of us in at the same time. So, we all got a 15-step scalp treatment together. Below is a picture of the steps, but it was a lot of massages and essential oils and happiness. My favorite part was the massage bed with a warm waterfall of water running down on my head. They left you in a dark room with a blanket too. I loved it, and my hair is cleaner and so much lighter! That was the end of the day. I’m so happy I went to that.
This is all of the steps:
