Today we started off our day at the School of Engineering with two presentations. The first focused on the nursing system and education in Spain. The career & education differs from that of in the United States since nurses in Spain spend a significant amount of their time in school doing clinicals starting their first year and increasing the amount of hours per year. Also, during their clinicals, the students do not have classes alongside their clinical hours.
The second presentation explained the process of creating & developing a medical device. This presentation was extremely informative and went into depth about every little detail that comes along with the process. The sheer amount of steps & setbacks that you must endure to develop a product as complex as a medical product is astounding.
Following our presentations and lunch, we split into two groups to have a cooking class and explore the area. My group went to explore first and we went through the entirety of a 7-story department store! The building had every possible store you could ever want, including a restaurant and grocery store! After our exploring, we headed to our cooking class where we were able to cook classic Bilbao dishes like tortilla & pintxos as well as a dessert. The food came out great & we had a great time in the process!
