Hi! My name is Ethan Kwon, and I am a freshman nursing student participating in the Plus3 Argentina program this summer! I am from North Wales, which is right outside of Philadelphia. At school, I am involved in the Pitt Men’s Glee Club and the Pitt Men in Nursing Club. I have always enjoyed being involved and meeting new people through music and different organizations. Academically, I am passionate about nursing because I have always enjoyed helping others and making a positive difference in people’s lives. So far, I have been introduced to the foundational sciences that make up nursing, and I am extremely excited to begin clinical rotations in the fall. Professionally, I hope to become a compassionate nurse who can connect with people from many different backgrounds and help reduce disparities in healthcare. In the future, I hope to work in the ICU, with a long term goal of becoming a nurse anesthetist.
This summer, I am excited to explore the culture of Argentina and learn more about healthcare systems around the world. I have never been to Argentina before, so I am looking forward to exploring Buenos Aires, trying new foods, and experiencing everyday life there. Since I am studying nursing, I am especially interested in seeing how healthcare in Argentina compares to healthcare in the United States and learning how culture can influence healthcare systems and patient care. I think it will be interesting to see how different countries approach healthcare and how medical workers adapt to the needs of the different communities and populations. Through visits to hospitals and clinics, I hope to experience these differences firsthand. Personally, I hope that this experience helps me to become more independent and confident in trying new things. Professionally, I also hope to gain a broader perspective on global healthcare and develop skills that will help me work with a diverse range of patients in the future.
