My name is Alaina Abbato, and I am a first year Pitt Business student majoring in Finance, and minoring in Political Science and French. A big reason I chose to attend Pitt is the wide variety of global experiences offered! At Pitt, I am involved with the Student Government Board, as a member of the Allocations Committee where I help distribute funding to various clubs. Outside of classes, I enjoy running, reading, going to concerts and spending time with friends and family.

I chose Plus3 Argentina because I am interested in learning how healthcare policy and financing work together for distributing medical treatment and services. I get to combine my two main subjects I am studying- Political Science and Finance- to analyze the effects of changes in government policies and funding. I am looking forward to studying these relationships firsthand in Argentina.

I am also so excited to learn more about Argentina’s history. I have never left the country before, and have always wanted to travel to South America! Overall, I hope to learn more about the culture and communicating with language barriers, as unfortunately my Spanish is barely passable. I also want to see what a job in healthcare management looks like for a potential career path.
