Day 5 Greece: Lykavittos

Today was a long day and did not disappoint in the slightest. We started our day off by revisiting the UNIC campus for a lecture, “Myth to Molecule” by Dr. Ioannis Sarigiannis. This lecture gave insight into the world of venoms and peptides. I personally do not find biology very fascinated yet Dr. Sargiannis shed new light on a very interesting topic. He shared how peptides can be used to create self-healing materials in the future including glass or metal. I found this very interesting and enlightening. We also were able to traverse Kolonaki for lunch where I had two delicious gyros. We then had a guided tour of the Benaki Museum which was fantastic. In the museum there were many greek artifacts to explore. The part that was really interesting for me was to see how religion was involved in their ancient art and sculptures. Yet the part of the day that was my favorite was going to the top of Mount Lykavittos where we were able to see the entirety of the city. The view was absolutely stunning. Looking forward to a great day tomorrow at the temple of Poseidon. Once again, Greece fails to disappoint.
