Day five in Bilbao!

on

Today was another amazing day in Bilbao! We started off by visiting the company Gogoa. They make a lot of interesting technologies for rehabilitation! The biggest one was the exoskeleton for people who have lost the ability to walk. It is a big machine that moves your limbs for you in a walking motion. Next, there was a machine that electrically stimulated your brain. Finally, they showed us small, circular lights that can be used for two different exercises to test reflexes. In the first one, the lights are arranged in a circle on the floor around you, and light up different colors. You have to place your foot over the light that matches the color on the screen provided. The other exercise with the lights required two people, and was a test to see who could tap their color the fastest.

We also got a tour of the public health school, going through different rooms to see their technology for nurses, physical therapists, and public health majors. We also got to watch a lecture by Dr Abramowitch on AI and the birthing of digital twins. It was interesting to learn how the redesigning of hernia mesh can be used to strengthen the pelvic floor. Finally, we got to visit the beautiful San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. Although it was tiring to walk up 241 stairs and hike up a mountain, the views were absolutely worth it! On the way back to the hotel, we stopped at a beautiful beach. Of course, we had to stop for gelato before we headed back to the hotel. What an amazing day in Spain!
