May 8 – Getting Ready to Leave

Costa Rica’s focus on sustainability really makes the country stand out and feel genuinely authentic, as it offers so much more than just tropical beaches and rainforests. Its focus on conservation and maintaining a clean environment is especially cool in today’s world. I really look forward to experiencing everything the country has to offer and learning more about the lifestyle.

After a quick google search, two initiatives that popped up me were Costa Rica’s sustainable tourism and eco-friendly agricultural practices, with no specific mentions of coffee or bananas from the initial search. These initiatives show the country’s focus on reducing the impact of tourism on its ecosystems, and it’s a cool way to allow tourism while also prioritizing the environment. I also really look forward to trying all of the fruit that is grown there, and the sustainable farming practices seem to play a big role in how amazing everyone says the fruit is.

I am super excited for this opportunity to experience something completely new. I look forward to getting to know everyone on the trip and connecting with the country’s culture and nature. Pineapple has always been one of my favorite foods, so I’m especially excited to hopefully ruin it for me back in the states. Can’t Wait!
