Samsung, and Shopping Spree

To start off the day, our group left at 9:00 AM and traveled by charter bus to our first stop, a fortress used in the past. At this fortress, we first had archery practice led by some local Koreans. After we walked around the fortress and took some pictures.

After the fortress, we got back on the bus and headed to another palace. Here, we learned more about Korean history during the Joseon dynasty. Around this palace, I also got lunch with some friends in my group at an authentic Korean chicken place. We ordered three whole chickens and some other food. It was very messy but also extremely good.

After we headed to the Samsung innovation museum. We started off learning about how electricity was discovered and how scientists in the past harnessed this electricity to make technology like we use today. After we were shown early products of TVs and iPhones, and how they evolved over the years. We were also shown the evolution of Samsung designs. This trip was very cool to go to. As an electrical engineer, it shows how important my job is to the real world. Samsung is in the smart systems market, and learning how they incorporate sensors and recent technology in their products is very cool to see. It did feel like a Samsung ad sometimes, which is funny, but I had a wonderful time and learned a lot.

When the museum tour was finished, I then had my shopping spree for my family and friends. I won’t say exactly what I got because I know my parents read this (Hi mom, sorry for texting you at 1 am in the morning). But I went to many places and got a lot of gifts that I think they would like. I also bought a lot of Korean Pokémon cards for myself and my friend at home. In total, I spent around 300000 won, or around $200, which is not too bad, I think.

After I treated myself to some street food, such as grilled octopus tentacles and mango mochi. This day was long and busy, but I had a lot of fun.
