Astounded by the Acropolis

on

My favorite outing seen during the program time so far has been the Acropolis tour. It was surreal to be at a historical site that has been preserved for well over a couple of thousand years. Considering the changes to the surrounding metropolitan area was interesting to me. I appreciate how city regulations have preserved a clear view of the Acropolis for everyone to enjoy. It was interesting to consider how the Acropolis’s purpose has evolved, from serving as a valuable storage site to a significant tourist attraction. On site, I was taken aback by the scale of structures like the Parthenon and Athena’s Temple. It was interesting to see the buildings’ details up close as well. I appreciate how Dimitri pointed out the hooks left on the marble pieces, used to lift them into place with a rope. The panoramic views from the top were picturesque.
