Hello!
I’ve just gotten back to my room after having what I would say was my favorite day of the whole trip so far. As we cross that halfway mark through our journey today really felt like a day to relax a bit and enjoy the company of everyone. We started with a long but interesting bus ride to the Temple of Poseidon, which I would say was my favorite historical visit so far. Our guide told us that it was one of the least reinforced or remodeled sites in all of Athens, and you could tell. There was no scaffolding surrounding it and the columns themselves were much more degraded than the ones on say the Parthenon. But, that sense of realness really made me realize how impressive these things were to build in the time that they were built. On top of that, the view from up by the cliff was fantastic. After the Temple the entire group spent the day at the beach and had a much needed relaxation day in the amazing weather.
