Today we got to visit a truly amazing hospital. We started off with a presentation regarding the Spain and US medical systems and then also looked into the nursing degree here in Spain. We also got a presentation about how biomedical engineering plays into the hospital and what are certain things the engineers design. In the hospital tour we got to see many different things. We started off with seeing an ICU that was currently unopened. The nurses explained that this ICU could open up in 2 hours if needed but however at the time it wasn’t needed. I found this very interesting because I don’t think this would happen in the US. We also got to see the Neonatal ICU, the Pediatric Emergency Room, birthing suites, etc. I loved being able to see the different parts of the hospital. I thought it was really cool how each pavilion was organized and laid out. For example, the Neonatal ICU was right next to the OBGYN birthing suites. We also got to see a more engineering perspective of the hospital as well. We saw all the electrical systems, heating systems and lighting systems. I thought this was really cool but definitely confusing for me!
After the hospital visit we went back to the University for some lunch. We after then got to see students working on constructing a car for the Formula Student club. It was really interesting to learn about the process and how they go about the construction. It was also cool to see how students take on leadership positions and how the hierarchy works. After learning about the car club we headed over to the Guggenheim Museum. I definitely loved how the outside of the Guggenheim is constructed. We walked around a bit exploring the different floors. I really liked all the tapestries I saw there. I loved the beading work and how intricate it was. We spent around an hour in the Guggenheim and then we left and got these absolutely amazing cookies from a spot called Krookies. I need to go back.
