One of my favorite site visits during the program so far has been learning about the Ellinikon Project in Athens. What made this experience stand out to me was seeing how Greece is transforming an old airport into a modern city filled with green spaces, new technology, businesses, and housing. It was interesting to learn about the amount of planning, engineering, and teamwork required for a project on such a massive scale. Visiting and hearing from the people involved in the development also helped me better understand how projects like this can impact a city’s economy, environment, and future growth. As someone interested in engineering, seeing a real-world project like the Ellinikon development made the experience feel more relevant to my future goals. Overall, it was inspiring to see how innovation and long-term planning can completely reshape an area and create opportunities for future generations.
