Day Eight: Break Day

on

Today we had a very relaxing day! We started the day off at a cafe where we got churros and chocolate. This place is known for its very rich and creamy chocolate sauce in which you dip the churros in. It was a delicious way to start the day!

After this, we walked to the first town market and looked at a few of the shops. They had clothing, jewelry, ceramics, and much more. I didn’t get anything but it was a very enjoyable experience. We then moved on to the flea market. This was a bigger market with lots of books and jewelry. Some people bought things like rings or CDs. At the other end of this market was the flower shops and they had a very wide range of flowers. The stands were gorgeous with all the different types and colors of flowers. It also smelled so good!

Following this we took the funicular up the side of the mountain to get a view of the city from above. It was a stunning view and you could see all the building in Bilbao so clearly! We took some pictures and then sat down to enjoy the weather. This is where we had our mid meeting to discuss and reflect on all that we have learned so far. It was very nice to recap and hear other peoples experiences so far! I agreed with what everyone said about the style of the care they give and the overall environment the workers create. Then the wind started to pick up and it began to pour rain so that was our sign that it was time to head back. We walked through the rain since the metro was broken and got lunch at Goiko before going back to the hotel for some rest.

Finally we ended the day with a nice dinner at Alborto for Eloise’s birthday! It was nice to have the whole group together to celebrate and the food was fantastic! I can’t wait for tomorrow!
