First Steps through Buenos Aires! (Day 1)

After a long 10-hour plane ride, I was more than ready to finally arrive in Buenos Aires. As soon as we got off the plane, we were welcomed by the Argentina IES team and introduced to my very first Argentinian dessert, an alfajor. It felt like the perfect way to begin the trip.

On the bus ride to the hotel, I immediately noticed how unique the city looked. The streets were lined with many different styles of buildings, and some had beautiful European-inspired architecture that made parts of the city feel both historic and elegant. Even from that first drive through the city, Buenos Aires already felt full of energy, culture, and character.

After getting to the hotel, we walked over to the IES center to get barbecue. It was my first time having any Argentinian food, and I was definitely not let down. All the meat was cooked on a charcoal grill, and was super flavorful and tender, and I would say it was some of the best steak I had ever had. We also got a dessert, called Bombon escoces, which is a chocolate coated ice cream with dulce de leche on the top and inside, and it was also amazing! My first impression on the food was definitely very good and I am excited to try more food throughout my trip.

Also, Happy Mother’s Day Mom! I love and miss you, and I am so grateful to have you as my mom. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to go on this trip. <3
