Today focused on problem-solving and collaboration, especially in relation to healthcare and patient care.
We started the day with a workshop where we were given different problems that can occur in hospitals, such as patients getting injured while trying to stand up or developing bed sores from staying in one position too long. Working in groups, we had to come up with a possible solution, sketch out our idea, and create a model for it. Afterward, each group presented their design and explained how it would help solve the issue.
The activity showed how important collaboration is when designing solutions for healthcare settings. One of the biggest things I noticed was how valuable different perspectives can be, especially from nursing students. They pointed out problems and practical concerns that I would not have thought about on my own. It made it clear that healthcare-related engineering works best when multiple fields contribute their own experiences and viewpoints.
Later in the day, we visited the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum and toured different exhibits throughout the museum. We saw a variety of artwork ranging from older paintings to more modern pieces, which provided a different atmosphere from the earlier workshop and a quieter way to end the day.
Overall, the day combined creative problem-solving with collaboration and gave another perspective on how different disciplines connect in healthcare and design.
