I’m in a Deep Sweat: Day 3

Today was day three of my adventure here in Vietnam. Honestly, today was slow because we spent most of the time on a bus. We started at UEF and had a nice lecture about sustainability. I sat with one of the same students I was with yesterday, Mia. We ended the class with a great presentation.

We then headed to lunch, where we ate these cheese fries. The cheese fries were definitely the highlight of the day, I was very fascinated by them. Along with the fries, we had a steak meal. There were three different flavor options, and I chose the spicy cheese sauce. It was pretty good, but let’s just say things took a turn elsewhere.

After lunch, we headed toward our sight visit for the day, Dien Quang. Here is a quick picture I took while riding the bike also:

When we arrived at the building, I spent a few minutes in the nice UV rays to get a slight tan before we went inside and entered a meeting room. We then attended an interesting presentation where the speaker spoke Vietnamese, and a translator translated everything for us. It was definitely a cool experience.

After the presentation, we went on small tours. The first tour showed us the factory and the different lights being produced and tested.

Our second tour resonated with me more, as we saw the final product of the lights. Let’s just say they had a lot of impressive features. The lights could match the color of the food sitting beneath them, and they could also sense the clothes a person was wearing, adjusting the brightness or dimness to perfectly complement the outfit. I was really confused about how it worked, but it was amazing to see.

We ended the day with a long car ride back to the hotel, and I got lots of sleep on the way home. Once again, it was a day that offered new perspectives on the culture and gave us a glimpse into the inner workings of some big companies here.
