Uninvited Visitors, Cars, and a Tower

on

Today, we began by leaving our hotel in Pohang and heading to Ulsan to visit HYUNDAI on the way to the KTX station. We quickly ate lunch in a coffee shop while waiting for our tour, where some weird guy posing as an employee kept following people in our group. We went through the tour and thought it was overwith until he walked up to everyone again while we were waiting to leave, and literally stood right behind me. This guy clearly had some mental problems, so all I did was ask him if he needed help before Dr. Yun jumped in between us because he thought I was about to fight him. Anyways, during the tour we watched an informational video about HYUNDAI and got to see some cool older car models and learn some of the company’s history.

After this tour, we rode on a bus to HYUNDAI’s factories, which were cool. We got to see a factory with cars being built, with a surprising amount of humans working. It’s insane to me how many cars they are able to build every day, and the system moves very smoothly. One detail I thought was cool was that each car moves through the factory on a conveyor belt, but along with it moves a set of parts and tools, so the workers don’t have to keep getting new parts, they all just move with the cars. Afterwards, we saw cars being driven onto a boat for shipment. I thought it was cool how they literally drive the cars onto the boat, and I guess I never actually thought about how they would get them there. The drivers apparently get a bonus for however many cars they load, which is why they were all driving super fast as if they knew the plant like its a racetrack.

After HYUNDAI, we rode another bullet train back to the same hotel in Seoul, and instead of workign on my final presentaion, I went with a group to go inside Namsan Tower to overlook Seoul. I went up on the cable car, but was to lazy to wait in line for the way back down, so I just walked, which actually wasn’t as bad as it looked. The view from the top was amazing, but the view from the bottom of the tower was just as good if not better than the top.
