Back to Seoul

Today we headed back to Seoul, but before leaving we had one more exciting stop: the Hyundai Motors plant. After finishing packing, I headed downstairs and we left for the day. Before the tour, we stopped for an early lunch. I had bulgogi along with several side dishes that I wasn’t completely sure what they were, but everything tasted really good. I also got a lemonade, which has become one of my favorite drinks here in Korea.

When we arrived at Hyundai, we first visited their museum, where we learned about the company’s history and saw a timeline of their cars throughout the years. It was really interesting to see how much their designs and technology have changed over time. I took a lot of pictures of the different cars on display because some of them looked really futuristic and cool.

After the museum, we got back on the bus and drove around the plant before entering the factory itself. Inside, we got to watch workers assembling and disassembling cars. The factory was extremely loud, so we were given earpieces in order to hear our tour guide explain everything. It was amazing seeing how organized and efficient the whole process was. Later, we drove around another part of the plant and saw cars being loaded onto huge cargo ships at the port. The drivers moving the cars were incredibly fast and precise, which was honestly impressive to watch.

After leaving Hyundai, we headed toward the train station. On the way, we stopped to grab some snacks, and I got another lemonade and a donut. One interesting thing I’ve noticed about lemonade in Korea is that it often has chunks of lemon skin inside it, which gives it a stronger and fresher flavor.

We eventually boarded the KTX train back to Seoul. During the ride, I worked on our final presentation for a while and also took a nap. Once we arrived in Seoul, we headed to the hotel. I even bought a new suitcase because I had bought too many gifts and needed more space to bring everything home.

Later that night, we visited Namsan Tower. We took the cable cars up the mountain and got an amazing nighttime view of Seoul. Then we walked a bit farther and took the elevator to the top of the tower. The view from the top was absolutely beautiful, and there were markers showing how far away major cities around the world were from Seoul. I also bought two Pokémon keychains from the gift shop. Instead of waiting in the very long line for the cable cars back down, we decided to walk down the mountain. It took about 30–40 minutes to get back to the hotel, but it was really fun experiencing Seoul at night one last time.
