Day 6: Where is Cinderella?

It’s the day I have been looking forward to the entire trip!! It is time to hike up to Neuschwanstein, a 19th century castle built by King Ludwig II as a personal retreat. Leading up to this day, we had talked about the amazing views that would come with visiting the castle, but there is nothing like seeing it with your own eyes!

Our day began on the bus, once again. Luckily I slept the entire time so I practically teleported to the Neuschwanstein location. We began walking and even 5 minutes into the walk, there were so many beautiful sites.

Before going to the overlook, we toured the castle. After being surrounded by technology and industrial facilities the days prior, it was refreshing to appreciate the architecture of the castle and the talent of the people who built this magnificent retreat!

After touring the castle, we began our walk toward the bridge that overlooks Neuschwanstein. One re arrived at the bridge, I was taken back by the beautiful view!! Once again, I found myself appreciating nature after all the factory tours we had been participating in.

Another gorgeous piece of German architecture we got to see was Pilgrimage Church of Wies in Steingaden. This church was huge and full of beautiful detail. There was music being played toward the front of the church in worship. The entire experience was very special to witness.  I had never been in a church like this one while in America. The comparison of architecture in Germany versus the States is quite interesting. I’m America, I haven’t seen as many detailed buildings like I have in Germany. I got on the bus to go home this day, with a new appreciation for architecture, especially that of the 19th century.

After hitting 20,000 steps for the day, I prepped to meet with my group the following day at the University of Augsburg. Now it is time to get to work!
