Day 9: MAN and Nuremburg

Out of all the days, this was the one where I didn’t know what to expect. I was not in the MAN group, and I have also never heard of the company. On top of that, I didn’t really know much about Nuremburg besides some surface level historical context. This was honestly a positive though, as it allowed me to gain a new experience without any prior knowledge.

We first started out with the MAN tour, if I am being honest this was probably my least favorite tour so far. It was most likely because the tour guide wasn’t the most enthusiastic guy to walk the planet. The talk was also a little bit hard for me, for some reason I could not pay attention. However, I will say they gave us an array of beverages to choose from upon entry so that was really nice.

The real highlight of the day however was Nuremburg. This place was sick. We started off with a bunker tour, and by this time I was absolutely burnt-out from doing guided tours, but I still managed to enjoy this one. The tour was great; my favorite part is when they sat us down and showed real footage and audio from the war while being inside a WWII bunker, it was really cool.

After the tour we had a little over an hour and a half of free time in the city. Since I didn’t know the place, I just tagged along with a random group. We walked around and shopped a little, and I got a really good coffee, that I didn’t actually pay for because I didn’t have any euros (shoutout Chloe). The city was honestly nothing like I expected it to be, you could really see the historical past within the buildings and the structure of the city. There was this one part where it was a river, and you could see multiple bridges down it; this was especially beautiful. While we waited at the main entrance for everyone, the sun came out and I got this really good sausage sandwich while sitting in the good weather-this was a highlight.

Overall, the day started out not the strongest for me but in the end, I still managed to make the most of it and enjoy my time in Nuremburg. This day was an experience that I will remember, and I am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of something that I have no prior knowledge in.
