After two days of early wakeups and long days, it was finally time for a more relaxed day. Today we were going to Audi. I can say that this was my second most anticipated trip behind BMW. In America, when we think of German cars, we usually think of Audi and BMW. I was not in the Audi group, but I still had a lot of interest. I mainly wanted to compare Audi to BMW and see how they differ.
We started by arriving at the headquarters and watching a brief intro on a TV. The first thing that caught my attention was the sheer size of this facility; it was triple what I thought it would be. After that, we moved on to the tour, which is what I was excited for. The Audi factory was honestly much different from BMW. It seemed to be more automated, and honestly, smoother. Maybe it was because we had a better tour guide, but Audi’s factory really impressed me. It was intriguing to see how in-depth everything goes, and that every little thing matters. We ended the tour back where we started and at this point, I was leaning towards Audi over BMW.
We stopped for lunch at the Canteen. This food was amazing. I got the Wiener Schnitzel like I have every time, and it hit the spot. There were so many good options, though, I am honestly kind of mad I did not get the steak and fries; it looked really good. The standout part was the dessert, though, the options were endless, I was a little bit tight on money, so I unfortunately opted out.
We ended the day at Audi with the museum. I have to say, this was probably the most disappointing part of the day. The museum was very short and also just unalive. Unlike the BMW museum, it seemed like there was no passion behind this one. It was simply just cars lined up as you progressed through the years. Still cool, but not on par with BMW.
Overall, the day was still amazing, though. It was relieving to finally see Audi. I have been waiting since Patrick Will’s talk about a week ago. In the end, I honestly cannot say what I prefer, Audi or BMW. They both have their strengths and weaknesses, so I will have to see as time goes on. But for now, time to lock in for the presentation.
