Day 13: When Am I Going to Be in Munich Again?

After two weeks of tours and continuous work, mixed in with a little bit of fun, we had a day to ourselves. We were very excited about this day and originally planned to visit Salzburg, Austria. But after thinking for a few days, we realized how tired we were and how much we had been thinking about the food in Munich. We had to go back for a day, so we did that. Two guys and I got on the train around 12:30 and headed to Munich, which was only 30 minutes away. When we got to Germany, the first thing we had to do was to grab a “Wurst”, which is sausage in German. We went to a place where he had originally met a cashier on our previous tour. He was so excited to see us that he gave us a free sausage. This was already a great start to the day for us.

The place where we grabbed the sausage was called Viktualienmarkt. Located right in the heart of Munich’s Old Town was a market for food and local farmers. So we made it our mission to try every beer along with every sausage within the vicinity. To me, this was a perfect day. The sun was out, we had beer and sausage, along with amazing ice cream and some of the freshest cherries I have ever tasted in my life. To top it all off, there was a line for a pickle stand. At first, I thought I’d never stand in this line, but when am I going to be in Munich again? Short story: best pickle I’ve ever had; I had to order three more.

We then decided to make our way further towards the Munich Residence. On our tour we got a slight glimpse of the size of the building. It spans about four streets. As you walk around it you wonder how this is all one building. That wonder made us enter the building. The tour would’ve lasted forever if we stayed in the building. There were 130 rooms open for the public to see. Some of the rooms looked as big as four coffee shops together. We got to see the Antiquarium and a few other rooms before leaving. Breathtaking, the size of the castle along but when you enter you can really feel the size. After that we decided to walk around the park and ended up playing a basketball game. This was very fun. Would I say the Germans are better, never.

As the daylight was winding down, we decided to grab dinner at a restaurant and tried pork shoulder. It was cooked so well, I could lift the bone out of the meat. Some of the best pork and potatoes I have ever had in my life. We then ended our afternoon by hitting a few stores and getting European fashion. Had to adapt some of their style to ours.
