I woke up full of mixed emotions. I was tired after ten busy days but I was so grateful for the experiences I had while in Germany. It felt like the past two weeks flew by! Carly and I packed up the rest of our things and went to have our last hotel breakfast (I will think about that breakfast line up till the day I die, thank you Ibis for feeding me). It was so nice to have one last morning with the other students, Dr. Feick, and Phil!
At the beginning of this trip I would have never thought that I would make such great friends and enjoy being away from home so much! As we were packing up, I was reminiscing on all of our fun trips to places like Nuremburg, Audi Headquarters, and the Neuschwanstein castle. We had seen so much over these past two weeks and I was sad knowing that I wouldn’t be as busy once being back in Pittsburgh. The students on the trip became some of my greatest friends and this experience brought us together. I will miss being surrounded by these people 24/7! It is so crazy how fast you can bond with people when you are stuck on a bus together everyday. I wouldn’t change anything about this trip.
While I am sad to leave Germany, I am excited to sleep in my own bed again. I am looking forward to getting some downtime after having such a packed schedule, and seeing my friends and family again. I will remember this trip forever, and I have gained a greater appreciation of Germany and European culture. I am extremely thankful for my time here in Germany and hope to take the lessons I’ve learned with me as I finish out the summer.
