Day 11 – Let’s Get Down to Business

Today we woke up, ready for our professional day ahead. We had two corporate visits, one being TE Connectivity and the other being Du Ponte. After our other company visits, most of us expected a lot from these companies. We arrived at TE Connectivity and went to their conference room. They gave us a speech on what they do there and what type of technology they produce. They spoke mostly about their components. In addition to the speech, we were given a tour of the facilities. It was pretty cool seeing how the machines make all of the components. After the tour we had a Q&A session. Then it was time for lunch. This lunch was at the mall and it was pretty good. Oddly, in the middle of the lunch we were given dessert. We had ice cream in a toast box which was interesting but overall delicious. After lunch and dessert, we headed to our next company visit to Du Ponte. Like the past company visit, we entered into the conference room upon entering. We were each given name tags. Then we were given a summary of the company and what it does. We then left the conference room, and began our tour of the building. We were shown some of the products Du Ponte has produced, like erasable walls, the bottom of running sneakers, a softer type of carpet, etc. Then, we were supposed to enter the lab tour but one of the workers made ice cream for us. After receiving the ice cream, which was delightful, we were told we could not enter the lab so we waited behind. Unfortunately we missed that tour entirely due to our food but the ice cream was pretty good so I’m not complaining. Then it was time to come back to the hotel. My group and I practiced our presentations for about an hour. Then Candice and I went to the Mexican restaurant again and I got the same chicken fajitas. Then we went shopping at one of the markets. Luckily I was able to find some good souvenirs and haggled for a lower price. After that, we grabbed a taxi and headed back to the hotel. We watched some TV and went to sleep.
