Vietnam, Here I Come!

Hi Everyone! My name is Randy Sirota and I am a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh in the College of Business Administration. I am currently undecided, however I plan on committing to marketing as my major in the near future. My ultimate goal is to work for a professional sports franchise, preferably in the marketing field due to my love for sports and interest in business.

I am from originally from Cherry Hill, New Jersey and I have lived there basically my whole life. I have not done much travelling throughout my life with Canada being the only other country I have ever been to. Although I have not had the opportunity to do much travelling yet, but I love to travel and will take advantage of every opportunity I get to travel which is part of the reason why I chose to go on the Plus3 program.

When I heard about the Plus3 program, I immediately knew it was something I wanted to do. Vietnam was the most appealing destination to me because I believe it is important to learn about the different cultures around the world. Vietnamese culture varies greatly from American culture and learning about and seeing these cultural differences will be an important learning experience for me. I also think it is important and interesting experience witnessing the country’s rapid development first-hand. Over the two weeks there I hope to learn a lot about Vietnam’s developing economy and how it affects businesses in the country.

I am so excited to be going to Vietnam in just over two weeks. I can’t wait to experience the Vietnamese culture and cuisine while seeing some of the important landmarks and beautiful landscapes of the country!
