Gucci Gang

We had a packed day today in Florence. First, we started off at our company visit to the Florentine Leather School. While here, we learned a lot about the different kinds of leather skins and were even able to witness the workers hand-making bags and embroidering designs in gold. Everything was so high end and very expensive, so at the gift shop I just ended up getting a gold bracelet covered in yellow leather.

After the company visit, we had some free time for lunch. A few of us went to a restaurant near the main square and then we walked around for a bit. The next stop was the Gucci museum which was located in the historic Palazzo della Mercanzia. The museum provided the history of Gucci and contained exhibits from past and present clothing, shoe, and accessory lines.

Finally, we ended the afternoon at the Galileo museum. This contained some of the world’s major collection of scientific instruments pertaining to astrology and time, and had a special section dedicated to Galileo himself. Within this section was an actual display of Galileo’s middle finger, which was pretty cool to see.

We stopped for some street food on the way back to the hotel and enjoyed some hot calzones and sandwiches. All in all, it was a pretty good day!
