Today we visited Food Cloud and Enterprise Ireland. These are two very different companies.  First off, I was very impressed with Food Cloud.  This company is a nonprofit that works to bridge the gap between excess food in grocery stores and the hungry people in homeless shelters.  This company is essentially implementing technology to provide food that would usually be wasted, actually get eaten by the poor.  It is a noble company and I was impressed with the tour and the organization of the warehouse.

Enterprise Ireland on the other hand was very corporate and had 4 presentations lined up for us.  The all were extremely in depth and described an organization that is fully committed to help Ireland Inc. grow and expand.  They deal with any kind of business and did point out that Bord Bia deals with most of the food related companies.  The second presenter was very interesting because he talked about all the great startups that they are working with and even touched on all the different technology institutions in Ireland and their specialties.  I had no idea so much research and development was happening in Ireland and it’s great to see that the government and the EU are really pushing for it.  I enjoyed the vibe and entrepreneurial push of this company and was overall very impressed.
