We left from Verona this morning to return to Milan, but along the way we stopped at some companies for some tours. The first place was a company working to integrate the classic shopping experience with an online experience. They work by providing information on what products a store has on location so you can still have the experience of leaving your home to go buy things but with a guarantee that the trip wont be a waste of time.
Next we visited Sartorial Cavour, a mens tailoring company that made suits and jackets by hand. The business was very focused on quality, and only produces sixty jackets every day. This is in the groove of a very classic business style, which employed artisans who knew every part of the process to practice their craft rather than use assembly line techniques and unskilled laborers.
After that we went to Mario Feroni Knitwear, who actually led our tour of the facilities. Most of us did not realize we were in the presence of one of the world’s foremost knitwear moguls until after the trip was over because he was so modest in character. There was a massive collection of knitwear products and a lot of new stuff using the concept of reversible clothing that is not gender specific that was being worked on.
When we got back to milan, we checked in to the same hotel as last time. Apparently I left some shirts in the hotel last time and the front desk actually had them so that was really cool.
