Day 8: back to business

Another morning, another cappuccino. I should have had another, because I was really feeling tired today at our business meetings.

We made major changes to the itinerary today for our business day at the University of Nicosia. When we arrived to the university we met with two ship management companies. First we listened to a presentation about Fleet Management Limited. Then we had a workshop where we learned a lot about the shipping industry, such as the largest port located in Shanghai China.

After the morning of business meetings we had lunch on campus. I am so jealous of the dining hall on campus, it is 1,000x better than the eatery. I had a huge piece of chicken stuffed with cheese and ham.

Next meeting was with Mr. Antonis Polemitis, CEO of UNIC, to talk about blockchain and cryptocurrency. I know little about cryptocurrency and honestly am not interested in it in the slightest. Therefore this was not my favorite presentation, but still very informative. The last person we met with was with Dr. Spyros Makridakis, director of UNIC’s institute for the future. He was a greek olympian in sailing and creator of a data forecasting competition. This was more interesting to me, talking about predictions for businesses and different statistical trends.

When we got back to the hotel, we walked 3km to the Adidas outlet. The walk was nice…I guess… after a long day of sitting. For the rest of the night I chilled and prepared for the very early morning tomorrow!
