May 17th- Hey Siri, play “Castle on the Hill” by Ed Sheeran.

Next destination on the agenda? Neuschwanstein. The days are counting down as today is virtually the last day on the schedule besides the final presentations. I am so not ready for this trip to be over. We hopped on our last bus ride to Neuschwanstein and after some driving through the countryside we made it to our destination. Before starting our long walk to the castle we stopped by a lake near the town. This lake had the most beautiful view, and it wasn’t a bad place to take pictures either!

It was time for the uphill walk to the castle now. This walk felt like forever. Just when you thought you made it to the top, nope, it is just a little souvenir store. We kept walking and then, finally we made it to the top. Once at the top, my tired legs and everything went away. The castle was so.. castle like. It was gorgeous, I had never actually seen a castle before and it looked exactly how I pictured a castle to be. After taking many photos by the castle we headed up for the tour. However, Liam and I realized we forgot our masks. We had to run down and buy some for 8 euros, just to find out they sold some there for only 2 euros a mask. There wasn’t many rooms we went into but the ones we did were awesome. The room with the chandelier being worked on was beautiful with all the artwork around it. The thing I noticed throughout most the castle though, was that King Ludwig had a big thing for swans. We concluded the tour by standing outside it and getting a beautiful look down on the town and lake we were at.

After Neuschwanstein we went to the town of Fussen where we got some lunch and had a little bit of free time. I decided to try currywurst per recommendation of Maxi. I wasn’t a huge fan but I am very glad that I tried it. After a little bit of souvenir shopping we headed off for our last stop of the day. We ended with visiting a church named Wieskirche. This church was probably one of the best designed interior out of all the churches we visited.

Lastly, we got back on the bus and headed home. I am starting to get hit with sadness just knowing the trip is coming to an end. Also a little nervous about our presentations, but I am spending the rest of the day to prepare for them. I’ll update you about the presentation tomorrow! See you then!
