After acclimating to the time change, we had the most amazing breakfast. You could taste the freshness and purity of the food. Fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, breads, eggs, dips, juices, and the most amazing greek yogurt.
After breakfast we took a bus ride up to the University of Nicosia, UNIC. On our drive we saw tons of unique buildings with different types of architecture. We listened to a professor talk about the history of Cyprus. I enjoyed it as he was a funny speaker who kept things interesting. After our lecture we spent some time at The Block which is UNIC’s dining hall. The word dining hall doesn’t do justice to the beautiful decor and indoor/outdoor design with greenery and flowers all over the place. The food was yummy, it puts the Eatery to shame. There was so many people walking around ranging from college kids to older adults which shocked me. I was expecting it to be all college kids.
After lunch we had a Greek crash course and learned lots of phrases. I used thank you, ευχαριστώ, lots today ! We travelled back to town and had a walking tour of Limassol with our nice new tour guide. We freshened up and got ready for dinner at the Tavernaki, which my Cypriot Stat teacher at Pitt had recommended for us. We had another amazing meal with authentic meats, salads, and breads, mezze style. I had never eaten in this way before, with tons of plates brought to the tables and endless varieties. It was so nice to be immersed in the culture, while looking at the beautiful marina filled with boats.
After dinner we wandered around the town after our gained knowledge from the tour and was able to navigate pretty well. I had a great day with everyone and got tons of pictures.
