Personal Introduction
Hi! My name is Julie Meaney, I am from Chester County, PA right outside Philadelphia. I am currently a junior here at the University of Pittsburgh pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minor in French. I intend to continue my education after graduation in April 2025 to pursue a master’s degree in accounting. My French minor is inspired by my personal connection to the language and culture. My mother was born in Senlis, France, and raised my sister and I bilingual in French! Aside from academics, I am a member of the Pitt Dance Ensemble and Pitt Ballet Club. I’m interning in finance this summer at Nouryon, which is based in Radnor, PA.
Plus3 Germany
I chose the Plus3 Germany program due to the opportunities presented in both the cultural and academic aspects. When looking for a program to participate in study abroad, I knew that I could not study abroad for a full semester and this Plus3 program gives me the experience I wanted. I love to travel internationally and have never been to Germany before. This trip allows me to discover new ways of life in a personal and professional sense. I find the automotive industry fascinating and there is no better country to study it than Germany itself. With the company visits to the in-person presentations about the industry, I felt that I could really learn an extensive amount of skills and experience.
Throughout the trip, I hope to not only gain cultural experience but also gain new skills in communication. First, I would like to develop a deeper understanding of the car supply chain and the different companies that we will visit. Audi specifically is a company that interests me greatly to learn about their production process. Second, I am looking forward to understanding more German culture and the language itself. By the end of this trip, I hope to have a new list of favorite foods! I am ecstatic to learn about German culture from a student’s perspective when we meet the students at the University of Augsburg.
