About Me!
Hello! My name is Ellie Kwak and I am currently a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh College of Business Administration. As of now, I am planning to double major in marketing and possibly supply chain. I live in Malvern, PA which is about 40 minutes outside of Philadelphia. In college, I partake in intermural sports such as tennis and flag football. I am also involved and on the board of the LINK club at Pitt. On a professional level, I hope to pursue a career in digital marketing. For fun, I enjoy hanging out with friends, singing karaoke, and playing pickleball.
Plus3 Cyprus:
For the Plus3 program, Cyprus was my top choice because I wanted to learn more about trade and supply chain as it is a topic that piques my interest. Considering how Cyprus is in the middle of Africa, Europe, and Asia, its location makes it a highly coveted and heavily trafficked country. I look forward to experiencing the beautiful landscapes and beaches of Cyprus as well as learn more about the importance of collaborating across international borders. On this trip abroad, we will have the opportunity to communicate with different organizations and work with executives. Through this, I hope to gain professional insight on how businesses apply supply chain management to improve and enhance their services.
3 Important Things I’ve Learned So Far:
- I learned that the city of Limassol is known for shipping and ship management as it is a major commercial port.
- Addressing those older than you with respect is culturally expected (“Kirie” is “Mr.” and “Kiria” is “Ms”).
- Tipping culture is not practiced in Cyprus and it is unnecessary to tip taxi drivers and at restaurants.
