Hello Everyone! My name is Elijah Rogers but everyone calls me Eli. I am from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and grew up about 25 minutes north of Oakland. I am a freshman in the College of Business Administration and am currently majoring in Business Analytics and minoring in Spanish. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh, I hope to enter the field of Professional Sports Analytics or attend law school.
During my free time I love to play pickup basketball, pickle ball, and golf, spend time with friends, watch Formula 1, and travel. I have never traveled outside of the United States so I am very excited for the opportunity to go to Argentina to experience new people, food, and culture while getting to know our group much better. I have also heard Argentina is more of a “night owl” culture which is exciting because I am not a huge fan of early mornings. This summer I will be working as a legal assistant and a caddie on the weekends.
Last summer, I interned at an immigration law firm which influenced my decision to choose Argentina. I got a taste of Latin American culture through many client interactions during that internship which piqued my interest in the culture and the people. Another reason I chose Argentina is because I am minoring in Spanish. Immersing myself in a Spanish speaking country is an amazing opportunity to further my language skills and gain experience with native speakers that isn’t possible in the US. Finally, I think it will be very interesting to study the business side of Argentina’s healthcare system especially under the new president. There is a lot of economic turmoil and it will be interesting to study an evolving system that is completely different than the United States system.
I am very excited to begin this Plus3 Program and can’t wait to get to Argentina!
