I arrived today to Nordenberg Hall and met up with my friends who all shared the same feelings I did. All of us were talking about how we would not be able to sleep tonight, overwhelmed by the anticipation of our 2:40 AM meet time in the lobby. We soon headed to Benedum Hall for a quick meeting about our upcoming academic adventure, and finally to have dinner for some fun activities. Our dinner included a Korean snack, which tasted like a sort of honey-cinnamon cookie. After eating, we played a game where we were split into groups, and had to do a “snake draft” of items to bring on the trip with us assuming we forgot to pack anything. My group, very smartly, decided to take 5 trillion dollars as one of our items. However, when it came to voting at the end to decide which group had the best set of items, somehow my group did not win.
I could go on forever about my excitement to arrive in Korea. The nearly 16 hour plane ride will be quite boring, but I can already envision the feeling of relief and that sort of wow when we finally touch down in what I imagine will be an entire new world to us. I am especially excited for the cultural visits. The temples and palaces I have seen in pictures look breathtaking, and the city of Seoul in general looks awesome.
Of course, I am also excited for the academic and professional side. This will be a great experience for me to have to see some companies that I may want to possibly work at in the future, but in general will be good to learn more about something that is so heavily relevant to my major of computer engineering. This experience will give me a great look at the kinds of things that I could be working in in my future endeavors, or possibly let me know that maybe I don’t like this branch of computer engineering. Nonetheless, the experience will be priceless.
