My name is Patricia Lubin and I am a rising sophmore at the University of Pittsburgh. I am a nursing major with a certification of Latin American Studies. I am from Long Island, New York and grew up in the Dix Hills-Commack area. After I graduate with my BSN, I would like to work as an ER nurse and I plan to pursue my doctorates in psychiatric nursing.

During my first year at Pitt, I have became extremely involved. I am an active member in Caribbean Student Association, NSA, BSNA. I am the Tables Coordinator in the Spanish club due to my love of languages and eager to further improve my Spanish speaking skills. Back home, I volunteer at the Emergency Department at my local hospital and work as a cashier for over three years at Dairy Queen! In my free time, I love to go on walks, the beach, finding new restaurants in the city, and hanging out with friends and family. Also, I love to travel! During my junior year, I studied abroad in Spain and I fell in love with the country and traveling even more.

Due to my love of travel, I decided to chose the Plus3 Argentina program to learn in-depth how healthcare management in Argentina differs from the United States. I’m eager to explore the impacts of globalization on healthcare in Argentina. Nursing is a diverse field where I will encounter numerous different situations, so getting the chance to visit hospitals and learn from directors in another country with different customs and traditions will be vital to my future nursing career and how I interact with patients. I am also really excited to speak Spanish and adjust to a new culture.
