Today was a more relaxed day and different than the rest. To start it off we got to sleep in and did not have a scheduled event until 1:30. It was so nice to have a break and get to relax in the morning. But we did have to do something productive so at 1:30 we made our way to our first activity. Instead of the normal lectures we did cultural activities. We toured two museums today and learned a lot about the history of Argentina. The first museum was Museo de los inmigrantes. This museum shows and explains the history of immigration in Argentina. Immigration patterns between the United States and Argentina have many similarities, as well as many differences. For example, one of the big differences between immigration in the United States and immigration in Argentina is diversity. The United States experiences significant immigration from a variety of countries. Argentina experienced immigration from mainly Italy and Spain, which are neighboring countries. An example of a similarity would be opportunities. Both the United States and Argentina attracted many immigrants due to their economic opportunities they had to offer. The list continues, but we then moved onto the second museum. The second museum was Museo etnografico. At the second museum we learned about the long history of Argentina’s cultural heritage. We saw a variety of clothing, tools, and artifacts. I enjoyed the artifacts the most, I think they were really cool to see. We also were allowed to hold them to be able to feel what they felt like. We ended our night by having an alumni dinner. The two guys that came to speak and eat with us are the two most important physicians in Argentina. One of the guys owns a half a billion dollar clinical trial company. The cool thing is that they went to college at the University of Pittsburgh. Tomorrow is our last full day here. The time flew by so fast. I feel like I have been here for so long. It has been a great experience and I learned so much about Argentina, as well as their culture.
