Day 9

Today, we drove to Asan to visit Hyundai! Asan is a small town outside of Seoul. It was very quiet.

The Hyundai facilities were so technologically advanced and expansive. We saw how cars were made from frame to machine. Hyundai produces a car every 54 seconds! Additionally, we were given a bus tour of the grounds. There were not many people actually working inside the facility, which was surprising. Most of the machines were automated.

Afterwards, we went to TK elevator. TK elevators showed us their elevator models and showed us one of their models: the twin elevator. The twin elevator has two elevators in one pulley. They designed the elevators inside the reconstructed twin towers! One of their buildings was a very tall tower, which was fitting for their business. We went to the top and saw a beautiful view of the surrounding town.

They took us to another facility where we did “drop tests.” The drop test was so fun! We stood above a foam pit and then the floor opened beneath us! We stood above the foam pit while an empkoyee gave us instructions, and in the middle of the instructions, he opened the floor beneath us! I was completely surprised! Falling into the foam pit was so fun.

TK gave us some great souvenirs as well. We received a laptop mat, a tumbler, and a sticky pad.

Afterwards, I went shopping in Myeongdong. I stopped by Olive young, and got street food. I bought grilled cheese and marshmallows covered ice cream. The grilled cheese was good! It was topped with condensed milk. The marshmallow wasn’t too sweet at all either. It was delicious! While in Myeongdong, I explored some clothing shops and purchased a new top. I am so excited to try it on!

Overall, today was so educational and I am excited for the next day.
