This is the day I have been dreading the most. Although I am excited to go home and have summer finally begin, I do not want to leave this beautiful place or these beautiful people. I have had the amazing opportunity to become so close with more students in the nursing program and now extend that friendship into the business school. Now after meeting these people and having this experience abroad all together, I do not know how I will ever live without them in my life, which I am extremely grateful for. When thinking about the trip overall, there were too many high points to pick just one to write about. From the experience of traveling to Argentina, expanding our knowledge on the business world in the healthcare system, getting a first-hand view on a healthcare system opposite to the United States, to making new friends for life, I simply cannot choose. An unforgettable and unfortunate low from the trip I would say was the mosquito problem. Many native Argentine’s kept repeating how they have never seen a mosquito in their life while living in Argentina, especially to the extent as to what the problem was like. Although they were very annoying, it did not ruin this trip in the slightest. One thing I have learned from this trip that has made the most impact on me is the healthcare system in Argentina. When visiting the public hospitals, it truly made me appreciate and realize how different the system is in the United States. While the Argentina healthcare system is composed of a public sector, private sector, and obras sociales (unions), the United States is solely a private sector system. It made me appreciate the hospitals, vaccination system, and overall sector that we have. Another part I learned the most about was the obras sociales. As this was my topic for our group presentation, we had no idea as to what the obras were truly like before coming to Argentina. After being in the country and speaking with many representatives from various obras, we finally got a grasp as to what they do, who they involve, and how they affect the system. I truly learned so much on this trip and am forever grateful for it. VIVA LA PLUS 3 ARGENTINA 2024!!!!!!!!!!!!
