Hi! My name is Chloe Netzel, an intended Marketing and Supply Chain Management student in the College of Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh. I love to travel and explore new places, which is why I am extremely grateful for an opportunity to do so here at Pitt. At the current time of writing, I am in my Freshman year, which is absurd because it felt like I had just started my collegiate journey. Although it is my first year, I have kept myself occupied by taking part in various clubs. These clubs include Oakland Cares, American Marketing Association, Sports Business Association, and Special Olympics. All of the previous listed clubs have taught me vital skills I know I am going to need in my professional career. Plus3 Cyprus will become yet another opportunity for me to gain new skills. It is with these skills that I will have gained from visiting Cyprus, such as intercultural skills, in which I plan to implement throughout my professional journey. I also aspire to gain valuable connections throughout this study abroad opportunity, with the hopes that these connections will last for many years to come.
This summer, I have the special opportunity of visiting the island country of Cyprus. What steered me towards considering Cyprus as one of the three Plus3 locations I could possibly travel to was the fact that it would allow me to learn about one of my two intended majors, Supply Chain Management. Not only would I learn more than I know now about Supply Chain Management, however I would also gain valuable experience in terms of being professional. Throughout this trip there will be numerous site visits with companies, each of which will give me a chance to exist in a professional setting. I will have to dress, behave, and speak professionally, which is great practice for my future endeavors. This trip will also allow me to bond with my fellow Freshman, giving me time to meet new people, as well as strengthen my networking skills. From what I have heard and seen through our various class meetings, as well as through my own research, Cyprus is a beautiful country stemming from a pool of complicated, yet enticing history. Given that the streets of Cyprus are filled with history, my favorite subject to learn, packed with delicious sounding food, and blessed with breath taking views, I know that not only will I enjoy Cyprus because of its professional capabilities, however I will also love it because of its personal ones.
