Aiden to The Andes: My Intro to Ecuador

Hi friends! My name is Aiden Elliston and I just finished my Freshman Year at the University of Pittsburgh. I am in the College of Business Administration and I am studying Global Management with a minor in Economics and a certificate is Sports Business Management. I’m originally from the Pittsburgh area and grew up 10 minutes away from campus so Pitt has always been one of my dream schools and to finally be here brings me so much joy. I consider myself a rather outgoing individual and I love sports, going to the gym, listening to music, and making friends. This semester I joined the Sports Business Association (SBA) on campus where I get to meet with various industry professionals in the sports business world. In addition to this I also joined the Delta Sigma Pi (DSP) business fraternity where I’ve gotten the chance to meet numerous fellow Pitt business students as well as Pitt alumni with the goal of developing myself professionally.

After graduation I am hopeful to work within the sports business world either in the U.S or abroad. Travel is something I’m extremely passionate about and any opportunity to travel through work post graduation sounds very appealing to me! Growing up in the city I was lucky enough to experience many different cultures and communities within the schools I went to and I feel that has helped foster my appreciation and excitement towards the prospect of being able to immerse myself and experience those other cultures.

So why Plus 3? During my time in High School I was lucky enough to participate in a two week study abroad to Japan which I can confidently say was one of the most enjoyable and worthwhile things I’ve done. With that being said, I knew coming in to Pitt that study abroad was something I was very interested in. Upon learning about the Plus 3 program I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. I chose the Ecuador location as I thought the cultural experience I would get from it was incomparable to the other locations offered. Through this program I hope to gain both the cultural experience offered in the location as well as a better understanding of the global business landscape as I think that will be very valuable to my major of global management. Words cannot express my excitement to be participating in this program and I cannot wait to share my journey with you!
