Fredit and TK Elevators (Day 3)

After breakfast at the hotel, we began our drive to Fredit. Fredit is a company under the HY brand that specializes in probiotic health drinks. They are known for their innovation in fermentation and commitment to sustainability. When we arrived, we were instructed to change into slippers that were provided for us. We watched a short introductory video and then began our tour.

The first part of the tour focused on the production process of their probiotic drinks. We learned about two key preparation steps: a 20-day fermentation process, followed by the addition of minerals and flavoring. We got a look inside the factory and saw the massive tanks used for fermentation. Unfortunately, photos were not allowed 🙁

As the tour continued, we learned more about their sustainable production practices. For example, they manufacture all of their own plastic bottles and recycle any defective ones. It was inspiring to see how seriously they take efficiency and environmental responsibility.

We then moved into the museum portion of the tour. There, we experienced a VR simulation that showed how probiotics interact within our bodies and their health benefits. Before we left, they kindly gave us free postcards, drinks, and tote bags!

Afterward, we had shabu shabu (Japanese hotpot) for lunch. There weren’t many vegetarian options, so I had tofu with rice. It wasn’t my favorite, but I was happy there was tofu available.

Once we finished eating, we made a quick stop at a convenience store for some ice cream. After our sweet treat, we departed for our next visit: TK Elevator.

Outside of the TK Elevator building.

Our TK Elevator visit began with a brief overview presentation. We then toured the staff recreation area, which included a golf simulator, ping pong table, pool table, and air hockey table. We had a great time rotating between games!

Next, we split into two groups for the facility tour. My group started with a visit to the elevator testing tower—an impressively tall structure. Our guide explained that the tower is used for various safety and material tests. We went all the way to the top and learned about the different types of elevators they produce. Plus, the view from the top was incredible!

We also got to observe the manufacturing process, including sheet metal fabrication, electrical component assembly, and more.

Now, we have dinner on our own and some free time. Tomorrow, we have an early start with a visit to Hyundai—I’m super excited!
