Today, we had an all-day tour scheduled at Yonsei University. Due to some conflicts, such as the weather, we had to postpone it by an hour. It was a long journey to get there because we didn’t have a private bus today, so we had to take public transportation. Our route included two transfers—both on the bus and the subway—which took a while and was quite exhausting.
As soon as we arrived at the university, we got lunch at the Yonsei dining hall. The system there was different from Pitt’s dining hall—you had to buy your meal in advance and choose one option. For example, we bought the main meal choices, which consisted of four options. I chose the chicken soup because the other meals had seafood, which I’m not a big fan of. The soup turned out to be really good. I definitely prefer this food over the dining hall food at Pitt. The only downside is that you can’t get unlimited food. Fortunately, Yonsei served large portions, so it didn’t really matter, but my only concern is that if you don’t like the meal you selected, you can’t choose something else.
After lunch, I got an ice cream macaron, which was so good that I want to try making it at home. Once everyone was done eating, we started the first part of our tour—a quick walk around campus to see significant spots like the business building and the campus statue. We then toured the science building, where we were shown all the equipment they had, which was really cool. It was also interesting to see that classes were still in session since their semester schedule is different from the one in America.
After that, we had a break before our final tour of the day: a lab run by a Yonsei alum. During the break, I had a waffle ice cream sandwich that was so good everyone else ended up trying it too. I also bought a baseball jersey from the Yonsei baseball team.
We ended the day by running to the subway because of a rainstorm that completely drenched us.
