Today we visited Nuremburg and the MAN factory. We started in Nuremberg with a city tour that featured many unique and classical locations. Colorful statues filled the city surrounded by old buildings. My thoughts going into the city where that it would be similar to Augsburg and in some ways, it was it was. The style of building was different. A lot more Tudor and original buildings. Some that were not bombed. That was the coolest part. Seeing the not bombed areas and how it relates to what has been rebuilt. I also really loved seeing all the ivy across the buildings. The lack of landscaping really adds a nice natural aspect that you wouldn’t have expected as an American.
When we went to the MAN factory a few things stuck out to me. The automation was much less than I had originally expected. They had machines but a lot of people worked on each engine. The production line was fun to watch as the mix of machines built and moved products to the testing floor. Its wild to think about storing these large engines since one is being completed every 2 minutes on average. At the end though I would’ve expected more automation where less line workers are being used. Todays picture was a from the production facility at MAN.
