Day 5: Audi!

Today was a light day – and I think all of us on the trip needed it. A leisurely meeting time of 8:30am was not used for sleeping in as most of us had been out late the night before hanging out with the German students. The exhaustion in the air was palpable.

A quick drive to Ingolstadt and we were off to the races. The drive to Ingolstadt was around an hour and the weather was a bit chilly today, but the size and sleek nature of the audi plane made us all excited. Before our tour we started we had the opportunity to tour the actual audi museum on the factory campus. It was layered with different historical cars, facts, eras, and uses. It was informative to show how the car company grew, and as this is the company I am presenting on, I was doing my best to take it all in.

Now for the actual factory tour, this was possibly the most automation I have seen. Large robots come and move car chassis, cars are driven into elevators to be given different paint jobs and engines are installed in seconds. Not only was the factory modern and efficient, it also seemed to be built for visitors, as there was a great amount of care in the design of the factory for tours.
